As a Site Lead HR Business Partner at our Orange, TX plant you will:

  • Provide strategic HR generalist support, leadership and direction in handling a variety of employee relations issues for BU and GF client groups represented at the site. Provide counsel and guidance on the development of employee related plans and programs that consider employee needs as well as the needs of the businesses and group functions; coach and counsel employees and management in problem solving situations regarding employee relations issues, performance problems, etc.; and interpret, analyze and respond to the needs and complex problems of managers and employees, which directly influence the morale and success of the business unit/group function.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in all aspects of human resources support including recruitment, personnel planning, terminations (including Reduction in Force reviews), selected training, etc.; and ensure consistency with practices and policies between business and service groups, which create a harmonious work environment that motivates, retains and develops employees. Responsible for all aspects of recruitment (internal and external) as directed by business groups affected by vacancies and/or new positions.
  • Serve as regional subject matter expert in at least two of the following areas: labor relations, compensation administration, change management, organizational development, employee and leader development, diversity and inclusion, HR controlling, and/or HRIS administration.
  • As a key member of the regional HR Business Solutions Team, contribute to the development and implementation of specific Human Resources programs (i.e. retention, training/development, recruitment strategy, succession planning, etc.) to meet the needs of the region. Lead, enhance, and/or actively participate in all regional and global Human Resources and cross functional initiatives, projects and programs as required.
  • Supervise a diverse site HR team, provides senior level expertise and know-how, coordinates workflow and manages performance.
  • Provide training (e.g., Harassment Awareness, Diversity, etc.) and/or identifies appropriate employee development activities in support of identified client group needs.
  • Perform compensation analysis including promotions, salary adjustments, peer equity reviews and salary offers to new hires as well as coordinate bonus and merit increase recommendations.
  • Approximately 20% travel required between site, Corporate office, and Sarnia Site.


In order to accomplish this you will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional certification required (PHR, SPHR, GHR); SPHR preferred
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience; previous experience in a manufacturing plant or industrial environment and/or collective bargaining unit is highly preferred.
  • Ability to serve as regional subject matter expert in at least two of the following areas: labor relations, compensation administration, change management, organizational development, employee and leader development, diversity and inclusion, HR controlling, and/or HRIS administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment law and employee relations techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in labor relations and/or union negotiations, conflict resolution, mediation, problem solving, negotiation or alternative dispute resolution.  
  • Ability to lead, develop and motivate a diverse group of HR professionals, including supervising a small team, providing professional and developmental support, managing performance, directing work allocation, and ensuring the timely completion of activities and tasks.
  • Ability to interpret and apply corporate policies and provide counsel and guidance to employees and management in enforcement of these policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to constructively coach and counsel employees in situations that may be emotionally charged.
  • Diverse corporate, consulting and/or global HR experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, with diplomacy, perseverance, fairness and consistency.
  • Ability to communicate and listen effectively in one-on-one as well as group settings (e.g., training facilitation).
  • Proven leadership, decision-making, project management, and advanced problem solving skills and abilities are essential to this position.  
  • Capability to influence and develop credibility among Company leadership, union leadership, and colleagues.
  • Ability to influence others over whom there is no direct reporting relationship.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple and changing priorities and a fast-paced environment with minimal resources.


10% - 20% travel within the US and Canada; possible international travel
