Category Manager Energy EMEA




The position:

•    The Category Manager is a hands-on and experienced professional who enjoys rolling up his or her sleeves and working with the team(s) to create, implement, and drive change while minimizing risk to the supply of Energy.
•    The focus of this position is to work closely with the suppliers and internal stakeholders to gain in-depth understanding of strategy, product, processes, and cost structure.
•    A demonstrated ability to influence people 
•    Executing fully integrated long-term strategic plans to meet objectives
•    Executing supplier sourcing and negotiation to influence supply capabilities, efficiency
•    Collaborating with key stakeholders to proactively identify value-driven activities that deliver savings, and continuous quality improvement & performance
•    Individual must be a team player, who likes to collaborate with the procurement team as well as cross functional team members, and a person who knows how to work within a team and be part of a team



•    Managing energy supply contracts, ensuring cost effective supplies;
•    Benchmark prices and commercial conditions to determine competitive price setting;
•    Leveraging market opportunities by having in depth understanding of energy market developments;
•    Leading the data structuring of the category to further optimize category spend;
•    Develop/implement energy procurement and risk management strategies; 
•    Market analysis of wholesale natural gas / electricity/CO2  markets;
•    Build strong relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders to ensure alignment of business objectives;  
•    Negotiate and implement complex / high risk contracts, through a range of tendering processes to meet business requirements; 
•    Monitor performance (KPIs) and implement improvement initiatives as necessary;
•    Prepare responses to audits, condition reports and other data requests;
•    Ensure ethical standards and company policies are followed in all related functions;
•    Excellent supplier relationship management Implement supplier performance (SRM) measures and continuous improvement;
•    Lead and manage complex cross functional teams on projects to drive savings;
•    Analyse primary cost drivers, quality, risk and item inhibitors throughout the supply chain and develop strategies and action plans to reduce or eliminate them;
•    Set objectives to be achieved through the sourcing strategy and monitor achievement.

Your profile:

•    Proven ability to successfully negotiate energy/utilities contracts 
•    Fluency in German AND English is absolutely necessary 
•    Experience leading complex project teams
•    5+ years Sourcing & Category Management experience with multiple years in Energy/Utilities/Sustainability is a must have
•    Bachelor's or Master’s degree with an above average level of analytical thinking
