Wahrscheinlich verwenden Sie synthetische Kautschuke in Ihrem täglichen Leben, ohne es zu merken. Für die Fahrt zur Arbeit und nach Hause brauchen Sie Gummi in den Reifen Ihres Autos oder Fahrrads. Beim Duschen befindet sich eine Gummidichtung in Ihrem Wasserhahn. Beim Öffnen des Kühlschranks sorgen die Gummidichtungen dafür, dass die Tür richtig schließt und die Kälte drinnen bleibt. Neben diesen eher „traditionellen“ Anwendungen wird unser synthetischer Kautschuk auch in Batterien für Elektroautos, in Windmühlen und Solarmodulen verwendet.

Global Project Engineering is a small organization within ARL providing both, technical and procedural expertise, in the engineering and execution of process plant construction projects. This expertise is provided to the local engineering functions attached to each of our production sites, but also as a consultancy support to the executive Management of ARL as part of the CAPEX Management Process. The CAPEX engineering group is increasingly involved in the development of execution strategies and the initialization of projects that cannot be covered by the competencies typically represented on the production sites.

To cover the broad demands and requirements necessary for the various projects the team is composed of individuals covering a specific engineering discipline but have also gained in their career experiences in technical procurement, contractor management, engineering- and project-management.

Within this team of experts, the role of an “Global Manager - Process Control Technology” is to be filled. In ARL, the term Process Control Technology summarizes the disciplines of electrical, instrumentation and automation.

Responsibilities:

Execution and support of Stage gate reviews for capex project engineering Projects
As part of its governance function Global Project Engineering is performing stage gate reviews on project developed by our local engineering departments. Responsibilities include leading such project reviews, particularly if they involve significant PCT scope, or assisting colleagues in such reviews. This typically includes evaluation of project strategies, challenging of technical solutions and cost estimates, recommendation of improvements to the proponents of the project, providing technical support prior to or following such reviews and provision of the conclusions to executive management for the further sanctioning of the projects.

Preparation of global governance procedures and company standards for PCT and broader 

ARL's production sites are spread all over the world. Due to different local standards, but also due to historically different previous owners locally different technical standards and procedures have been implemented. ARL is in the process of harmonizing key practices and technical standards. The position therefore includes the development of harmonized processes and technical standards where adequate on a global level, taking into account existing local standards and procedures, own experiences but also avoiding contradictions with the procedures and standards of our parent company Aramco. This applies mainly to the PCT discipline but requires also a broader understanding of the interfaces to other disciplines.

Support of sites with technical and project execution expertise in PCT

The age of the ARL production sites varies among a couple of years up to several decades. Consequently, the installed basis varies in age, technology, technical standards applied and remaining lifetime. ARL is facing the necessity to deal with new installation, migration of old PCT systems to newer generations or combinations of the two cases. The position includes the evaluation of existing systems in terms of their remaining Lifetime, policies to extent the lifetimes by preventive measures (e.g. increased spare part stock), strategies of enhancement measures in part or for full systems. As part of the role the Global Manager PCT is approached by various stakeholders to provide key expertise or a second opinion, to review and challenge existing approaches or to develop in cooperation with the local site adequate and cost-effective strategies and solutions. This includes also support to global and local procurement bidding processes, technical clarifications and vendor management. 

Contribution to the development of projects
The Global Project Engineering group is increasingly involved in the development of execution strategies and the initialization of projects that cannot be covered by the competencies typically available on the production sites. This includes development of project strategies, initialization of projects, internal and external recruiting of OWNER teams, review or development of project scope of work documents and compilation of technical documents for contracting of Engineering/EPC services. this is not limited  PCT discipline only but requires a broader understanding on how complete projects work.

The split of tasks within the role is highly depending on current project portfolio under execution, other PCT relevant topics and/or their priorities.

Competences:

Technical expertise:  

good overall understanding of the disciplines Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation Engineering their interaction and interfaces from engineering up to and construction for process plants, related technical procurement of material and Services, Project Management and Project Engineering experience

Level of education:    

Bachelor or master's degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering

Experience Level:      

10+ years in relevant position incl. experience in leading of Teams

Project management:  

interaction with discipline, overall understanding of plant engineering and construction, awareness for cost, schedule, responsibilities, risks and overall targets of project and company

Communication Skills:

Relevant skills engaging with internal stakeholders, external partners, and shareholders through collaborative communication and interpersonal skills in an international setting

Ways of working:       

autonomous and self-motivated working style, analytical and strategic thinking, flexible in dealing        with changing demands and priorities, able to intercultural and cross functional collaboration.
