Job Purpose

To design, implement, and manage a global benefits and pensions strategy that aligns with organizational objectives and contributes to the HR strategy, ensuring development standards, and enhancing employee experience. This position is perceived as authority on benefits and pensions within the organization. This role will globally leverage and align (where legally possible) local practices, improve governance processes, and drive harmonization and innovation in benefits offerings. Additionally, this role will advise strategic stakeholders. A critical responsibility will be supporting in strategic projects (for example the implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive for 2026) from a benefits and rewards perspective.

Responsibilities:

Global Benefits Strategy

  • Ensures development and implementation of a global benefits framework, including health, insurance, and recognition programs, that contributes to the HR strategy.
  • Collect and analyze country-level benefits data to identify gaps and opportunities.

Pension Governance

  • Establish oversight of local pension schemes; ensure compliance and risk management.
  • Act as key liaison with the Corporate Pension Committee (CPC), providing input on global pension landscape, de-risking strategies, and harmonization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the pension committee and external advisors on pooling and optimization strategies.

Policy Development

  • Develop, enhance and implement new benefits and retirement policies aligned with market standards.
  • Introduce flexible working conditions and innovative benefits solutions.
  • Evaluate feasibility of captive arrangements for insurance pooling.

Project Management

  • Lead global harmonization projects for benefits and pensions.
  • Manage due diligence processes related to benefits in M&A or restructuring scenarios.
  • Prepare and present pension-related data and recommendations for CPC meetings.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Lead the implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive from a benefits and rewards perspective.
  • Ensure benefits data is accurately captured for pay transparency reporting and gender pay gap analysis.
  • Collaborate with the project lead to provide benefits-related insights for compliance.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with SLT Members, Country MDs and colleagues in HR, Finance, and Legal to ensure effective delivery.
  • Communicate insights, provide recommendations, and advocate for them with strategic stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in benefits, providing guidance and support to local HR teams.

 

Skills and experience required

  • Degree in HR, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • 12+ years in benefits and pensions management, preferably in a global context. Proven track-record in delivering long-term objectives in a global context.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Dutch and/or German is an advantage.
  • Expertise in strategic benefits design at a global level, global pensions in multiple jurisdictions, insurance pooling of risks and benefits; advanced Excel skills.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organizational ability.
  • High reliability and attention to detail.
